hoto na neman muriya *)

an audiovisual project created by the group gecko-art
for young people from Kaduna (Nigeria) and from Vienna (Austria)

in cooperation with A-NI (Austrian-Nigerian Initiative) and the Whelp Project Center in Kaduna

*) "Voice looking for a picture" (Hausa)

A transcontinental exchange of scenes ...

Participants were students, respectively young people between 15 and 19 years, living in Kaduna (northern part of Nigeria) and Vienna (Austria). In both towns workshops were carried out for the creation of  audio-features on CD, which will be sent to the other town.

There, the young participants inventrd photo-stories, which were sent back. By this way, a transcontinental audio-bridge and a visual transformation between two countries was established. A audio feature of Kaduna got photo-story from Vienna and vice versa.

In May 2005 all results (CD-Rom, online-cataloque of the picture-stories, special informations about Nigeria) were presented in form of an exhibition, taking place in Vienna and Kaduna.

Together with the Viennese participants gecko-art produced radio-features focussing mainly on the school system in Nigeria and the everyday life of young people living there. For special questions, put by the Viennese students, Mr. Mag. Adenrele Banwo has been the interview partner. Besides, the young people investigated about Nigeria by the help of internet and print medias.
