Excerpts of contemporary poetry, novels and stories will be prepared for a special reading (or playing) performance within workshops together with the gecko-art-crew. The young participants can use their whole spectrum of voice, rhythmic elements and body language to express the emotion and assoziations which written stories provoke. So, the project shows a certain way to approach literature faced and styled by young people using their creativity. Workshops - The workshop for creating the performances together with the students (in the age of 16 to 18 years) will take place in the school itself (e.g. a larger class room, a project room a.s.o.) and will last 2 days (about 5 hours each). Performance on public spaces Open air aeras are the locations for the final reading event. So literature gets in touch with every days' life. A whispering choir at the farmers' market, a rapp in the park of the town, a sonette in front of the church's gate or a literary dance at the bus station - they all function as perfect places for book.stage ... Choice of the
literature It's up to the teachers and students to choose the excerpt of a contemporary novel as origin for the performance creation. The gecko-art team will contact the publishing house in order to get the copyrights for the performance. Audio feature as a documentation The whole reading event at the public space will be audio recorded for publishing a 'book.stage.feature' (by the gecko-art team) which also will content the reactions of listeners by chanche as well as the acoustic atmosphere of the performing aera. This feature will be set as mp3-file on the virtuell 'acoustic literary map' (see below). The school will get Audio-CDs, too. Acoustic
literary map Within this project several European partner organisations - such as gecko-art will do - will create audio files where contemporary literature can be listened on the website 'acoustic literary map' by mouse click. This site started in 2006.

Stimme MeisterInnen ...
Textauszüge aus zeitgenössischer Lyrik, aus Romanen oder Erzählungen bereiten SchülerInnen gemeinsam mit dem gecko-art-Team zu speziellen Leseperformances auf. Dabei steht den TeilnehmerInnen das gesamte Spektrum ihrer Stimme sowie rhythmische und körpersprachliche Elemente zur Verfügung, um die Gefühle und Assoziationen auszudrücken, die die Texte bei ihnen hervorrufen. Mit dem Projekt soll eine Methode angeboten werden, sich mit zeitgenössische Literatur auseinanderzusetzen und dieser eine kreative Präsentationsform zu verleihen. Workshopsorte und Workshopzeiten Der Workshop zur Erarbeitung der Leseperformances mit den SchülerInnen (im Alter von 16 bis 18 Jahren) finden in Räumlichkeiten der Schule statt (z.B. ein einem größeren Klassen- oder Projektraum) und dauert 2 Tage (zu je 5 Stunden). Performance im Öffentlichen Raum Die erarbeitete Leseperformance findet im Open-Air-Bereich statt. Literatur und Alltag treffen aufeinander. Ein Flüsterchor am Bauernmarkt, ein Rapp im Stadtpark, eine Sonette vor dem Kirchentor, ein literarischer Tanz an der Busstation - das sind perfekte Plätze für book.stage ... Auswahl der Literatur LehrerInnen und SchülerInnen treffen die Auswahl des zeitgenössischen Textes bzw. Auszugs, der dann als Basis zur Gestaltung der Performances dient. Die Gruppe gecko-art nimmt Kontakt mit den entsprechendem Verlag auf, um die Aufführungsrechte zu erhalten. Audiofeature als Dokumentation Die gesamte öffentliche Leseperformance, die Reaktionen von ZuhörerInnen sowie die akustische Atmosphäre des Platzes wird auf Audiodisc aufgenommen. Aus dem Tonmaterial gestaltet gecko-art ein Audiofeature, welches auf die virtuelle 'akustische literarische Landkarte' (siehe unten) als mp3-file gesetzt wird. Natürlich erhält auch die Schule Audio-CDs. Die akustische Landkarte Europas Für dieses Großprojekt werden - wie gecko-art - verschiedene europäische Organisationen Audiofiles mit zeitgenössischer Literatur gestalten, die auf Mausklick auf der Webseite der 'Akustisch-Literarischen Landkarte' anhörbar sein werden. Diese Webseite kann ab 2006 besucht werden.
